Although you may have begun thinking that we had sailed off into the sunset only to drop off the edge of the world and some, my brother-in-law for instance, had hoped we had, we didn’t and we’re up and running once again.  When we last spoke back on June 15 (Geez, has it really been that long?) we had settled into the Escapees Rainbow Plantation in Summerdale, Alabama, for what we intended to be about a 9-month hiatus here in the Deep South…

We even landed a pretty neat little pub table for the breakfast nook (Listen to this crap: “breakfast nook”!!  Who the hell talks like this??!)…

And the Master Bath comes complete with a walk in closet which is nearly the size of our UAV, a shower built for 2 and a Jacuzzi tub which is DEFINITELY built for 2…

But she is actually more of a pet watch bear who stands ready to repel intruders at the front door…

Remember, that was our intention.  But much has transpired twixt then and now and the best laid plans of both Beauty and The Beast (that’d be me) have changed a wee bit.  Thus begins Chapter 3…

Having lived in the UAV for the past 15 years has left us with nary a stick of furniture…well, unless you count Muffy…

Welcome to what we are calling, “Lamb’s Retreat on Wolf Bay,” or in other words: our new home.

By way of explanation: Chapter 1 was our working lives, living in California and raising kids.  Chapter 2 was retiring to an RV and setting off in search of adventure.  Chapter 3 is the Golden Years of living in Alabama, in what we believe is the perfect home in the perfect location.

Now you can ask me how this happened and I would have to tell you that I simply do not know.  We were driving around one afternoon and wandered into Graham Creek Estates on Wolf Bay and the next thing I knew, I was a homeowner!  I sincerely believe that Zookie slipped me the equivalent of a roofie designed to remove all fear of living in a dwelling that doesn’t move and then somehow washes your memory clean of how you arrived at your current destination.  She is devious and I would not put such a sneaky scheme beyond her.

As many of you know, Zook is from the farm belt in North Dakota and she has been longing for some time now to get back to her roots.  The deal clincher on this erection of sticks and bricks did just that…

She is now the proud owner of her very own John Deere tractor!  And she is going to need it to mow 1.3 acres of grass…

We spent nearly a month of frenzied furniture shopping everywhere from Mobile to Pensacola to acquire the basics we would need to actually live in such an immovable behemoth.  The very first pieces of real furniture to arrive were a couple of sets of mattress and box springs for the master bedroom and the guest room, which is now ready for guests…

The master bedroom is somewhat less Spartan…

   Chapter 3                                                             September 11, 2014

Okay, all of the previously viewed bric-a-brac (more gobbledegook) was pretty much of Zook’s design but now let me show you my “man cave”…

This is a quiet little “room of meditation” where she can do whatever it is that she does after she has finished mowing, trimming, weeding, fertilizing and watering her acreage and ensures that I’m adequately supplied with drinks and snacks for the ultimate football viewing experience.  I’ve been thinking about installing an intercom throughout the house so I can page her when I’m running low on supplies.   Whatcha think? (Zook sez, “Go ahead, let's see how that works out for you!!”)

Now it's on to business…We have a 2002 Allegro Bus for sale.  It has 121k miles on it, 39’ long, has 3 slide-outs, basement storage, Cummins 330hp engine, Allison 6 speed transmission, Pergo-type hardwood flooring, solid maple hardwood cabinets throughout, auto adjusting satellite TV receiver, flat screen HD TV’s front and rear, Blue Ray player, VHS player and a Wii game, plus lots of other goodies that we intend to leave.   The interior, tires, batteries (new) and the mechanical condition are all excellent.  The exterior decals look like crap but can be replaced for about $2k if it matters to you.   We have complete records of every drop of fuel, oil, maintenance and repairs ever made on it.  The blue book is between $70 and $80k for an Allegro Bus in this condition and similarly equipped.  We are willing to sell it for the first $50k offer to any of you who have been suffering through these CC & me Updates throughout the years.   So if you are in the market for a reliable, top of the line, RV that is live aboard and turn-key ready, THIS is your big chance!  You can view it in our CC & Me Updates for 12/11/02 and 12/18/02 or just scan through our Updates for places we have taken it…in a word: everywhere!   We'll be putting her on the market here in “Bama” if none of you are interested.

We’ll be back with another Update shortly about our trip to Sandals in Jamaica for Zook’s Birthaversary month.  Stay tuned, campers!!   Hugs, CC & me

Okay, now this is “Under Construction,” but you get the idea.   That’s a 65” Samsung UHD 4K 3D television hanging above the fireplace and I can attest to the fact that there is absolutely nothing better than watching the Alabama Crimson Tide roll to victory in high definition 3D while kicked back in a cushy recliner having your bar wench deliver cold brewskis and totally unwholesome snacks!

Lest any of you begin feeling sorry for my bar wench I would like to point out that she, too, has a designated “girl cave”…
